Out of curiosity:
I watched three new animes this weekend: Full Metal Panic, Neo Ranga, and NieA_7 (NieA Under 7).
Full Metal Panic - I have mixed feelings about this one. I liked it and hated it at the same time. It seemed almost like a Gundam Wing parody, which was kind of cool. The lead character, Sousuke, even looked like Heero Yuy. Lots of humor, great animation, but the whole thing felt a bit flat. I'll have to watch more than the first two episodes before I form more of an opinion, though.
Neo-Ranga - This one showed promise. The animation was great, but the soundtrack, so far, is awesome. You've got to give props to an anime with great music, you know. I'm only to the first episode, but the plot has me confused. I think that was the creator's plan, though, so I'll be patient. BTW, what's up with the thing that keeps sticking its tongue out on Joel's head? It's damned distracting, I'll tell you that much. Hn.
NieA_7 - So-so. Pretty funny, I guess. Your standard comedy fare so far.
I watched the first two episodes of Groove Adventure Rave yesterday. So far I doubt it's going to be one of my favorites, but it still shows promise. The art and animation is great. It's light and bright. No heavy angst here, I think.
I like the characters. The main male character, Haru, is very bishy, and the female character, Elie, is *NOT* a whining, wussy, damsel in distress so far, which I'm very thankful for. Most of the bad guys suck--worse than some of the fill-in tournament baddies from Yu Yu Hakusho, but the main bad guy seems complex enough to be interesting, and is a definite hottie. There *is* some sort of mysterious thing going on with him and Haru. Hehe...I smell yaoi possibilities. ;-)
